2016

Founded by Mickey & Brittany, NYC-raised feminist youth workers, the Homegirl Box was initially envisioned as a gift box for the revolution - a call to action, a proclamation of sisterhood, and a celebration of homegirls transforming, visioning, and revolutionizing exactly where we are.

We launched + worked with 20 women + gender-expansive folk-owned businesses to celebrate Assata Shakur, Frida Kahlo, Cardi B, and Audre Lorde.

2017 - 2019

We curated a time capsule collection of boxes featuring Angela Davis, Sylvia Rivera, Lauryn Hill, Shirley Chisholm, and Octavia Butler. Highlights included a postcard campaign to send love to young incarcerated homegirls,  a political action zine called “Politics & Possibilities” + the creation of the “Harvest of Survival” affirmation deck.

2020 

At the onset of the pandemic, we cleared out our bank accounts + re-distributed $20,000 to homegirls - supporting transportation home, food, rent, immigration applications, therapy + childcare.

2021

We started creating our own apparel + the Black Women Writer’s World Tour line featuring Toni Morrison, Audre Lorde + Ntozake Shange. 

2022

Homegirl HQ is a bold, audacious expansion of our original vision to radically celebrate and loudly rep our values. We’re breaking out of the box to offer more apparel, radical self-care tools and a continued commitment to celebration as a radical act.
